Leader Completes Acquisition
Seattle, WA, USA--(Jobwerx News)--Sidel a world leader in plastics packaging
equipment for the beverage industry will merge acquired SIG Group division
into new operations.
Tetra Laval and the SIG Group have now completed the transaction for
Tetra Laval to acquire SIG Simonazzi. As of today Tetra Laval has formally
taken ownership of Simonazzi and will now start the integration of their
activities with Sidel.
Present in 20 countries, Simonazzi designs, produces and sells filling
and labelling equipment in addition to complete bottling lines for packaging
liquid foods in plastic and glass bottles as well as beverage cans. Simonazzi
posted sales in 2004 of € 320 million and has 1,500 employees.
- Through this acquisition, Sidel will be better positioned to respond
to customers’ needs in the beverage industry, in particular in the filling
segment. By adding Simonazzi’s and Alfa’s equipment to Sidel’s product
offering we will be able to provide our customers with a complete product
portfolio”, says Larry Pillard, Chairman of the Tetra Laval Group Board
of Directors.
Roberto Schianchi, presently head of Sidel Filling Aseptic has been appointed
Managing Director of Simonazzi, reporting to Gerárd Stricher, CEO of Sidel.
- Our new company, the merged Sidel and Simonazzi, will have a unique
position to become the preferred supplier of full lines to the beverage
industry. Our product offering is state-of-the-art but ultimately it is
the people in our organisation who will make the difference, says Gérard
Stricher, CEO of Sidel.
Simonazzi founded in 1850 designs, manufactures, and sells machines, complete
lines, and turnkey systems for filling, and packaging beverages like beer,
soft drinks, mineral water, isotonics, neutraceuticals, juices, milk and
milk-based beverages, wines and spirits, in plastic and glass bottles
and cans. Based in Parma with facilities in Italy, Brazil, Mexico, and
China, the company has sales offices worldwide.
Alfa has since 1976 been one of the leading manufacturers of automatic
labelling machines. Today it is a leading supplier in the worldwide market
place. Their products traditionally cover all labelling sectors, but over
the years the company has increasingly focused on high-speed rotary labelling
machines for soft drinks and the beverage market in general.
Sidel is a world leader in plastic packaging equipment. The company’s
commitment extends from the design of bottles to the engineering of complete
bottling lines, bringing together all types of equipment, from package
manufacturing to palletising the finished product. The equipment covers
all liquid food products, such as carbonated beverages, waters, edible
oil, milk, teas, fruit juices and beer. In 2004 the net sales amounted
to 825 MIO Euro, and the number of employees to 4 060.
Tetra Laval is a privately owned industrial group of Swedish origin,
headquartered in Switzerland. Operating activities are organised in three
autonomous Industry Groups: Tetra Pak, DeLaval and Sidel. The three industry
groups are focused on systems for production and distribution of food.
The Tetra Laval Group had 29 540 employees and a net sales of 9 060 MIO
Euro in 2004.
