Ticona, the engineering polymers business of Celanese Corporation, has announced a price increase of 0.12/lb. for standard grades of its Celcon® and Hostaform® acetal copolymer, Celanexâ polybutylene terephthalate, Impetâ polyethylene terephthalate, Vandarâ thermoplastic polyester blends, Riteflex® thermoplastic elastomer, and Celstran® long fiber product.

The new prices apply in the Americas to shipments beginning October 15. Additional increases will apply to specialty grades and products purchased in quantities of less than 2,205 pounds.

"Prices of oil and natural gas are at record levels and, unfortunately, there is no indication that a return to historic levels is likely," says Tony O'Driscoll, Director of Sales. "The reality of the marketplace has fundamentally changed with regard to energy, raw material prices and feedstocks. While Ticona will continue to drive productivity gains, we have no choice but to increase the prices of our polymers."

Ticona Technical Polymers is one of the businesses of Celanese Corporation. Ticona produces and markets a broad range of engineering polymers and achieved sales of $863 million in 2004. Ticona has approximately 2,000 employees at production, compounding and research facilities in the USA, Germany and Brazil.

Celanese Corporation (NYSE:CE) is an integrated global producer of value-added industrial chemicals with 2004 sales of $ 5 billion. Based in Dallas, Texas, the company holds #1 or #2 market positions in products comprising the majority of its sales and has four major businesses: Chemicals Products, Technical Polymers Ticona, Acetate Products and Performance Products. Celanese has 29 production plants, with major operations in North America, Europe and Asia.
