Beverage Container Security
Solution in Germany
Seattle, WA, USA--(Jobwerx News)--TOMRA to manufacture recognition
units for a national deposit system for non-refillable beverage containers
in Germany.
The DPG GmbH becomes active for the ranges in industry and trade, seized
by the pledge obligation for one-way beverage packing.

A goal is to win that with the entry into force of the pledge obligation
broken down for the one-way beverage market as market back and in addition
the conditions for a consumer-friendly, open, to ensure not discriminating
and surface covering pledge system in Germany.
For this purpose the DPG GmbH took up the necessary work for a pledge
and a uniform safety characteristic as well as an appropriate set of
rules and system standard for the use of these characteristics. As contracting
party for the safety procedure federal printering are intended. An appropriate
preliminary agreement between the DPG GmbH and federal printering was
closed today in Berlin.
TOMRA. In the interest of an integration of the automat manufacturers
the DPG GmbH will arrange the following measure: Federal printering
will put altogether twenty prototypes of the recognition units to the
automat manufacturers participating in the field test together with
fitting instruction on hire for the duration of the field test at the
disposal.
In summary, DPG was recently founded to establish and administer a national
deposit system for non-refillable beverage containers in Germany. An
important pillar in such a system is the security marking of deposit
containers. DPG has signed a pre-contract with Bundesdruckerei to deliver
such a security solution. TOMRA is Bundesdruckerei's partner in this
endeavour.
A field test will be held whereby Bundesdruckerei will provide twenty
recognition units - manufactured by TOMRA - available for testing purposes.
During the course of the field test 50 million beverage containers will
be marked with the security marking and be read by the recognition units.
The system specifications will be open and made available to system
suppliers.
DPG Deutsche Pfandsystem GmbH - With innovative technologies, systems
and management models, Bundesdruckerei is re-defining the subject of
identity. Confirmed are new technologies in the field of biometrics
and innovative control methods, as a key to more security and greater
efficiency in access control.
The DPG GmbH and federal printering will continue the negotiations
for a general contract, already begun, with the goal of arriving as
fast as possible at a conclusion of a contract.
TOMRA designs and operates cost-effective systems that make it attractive
for people to return used beverage containers for reuse or recycling.
Reverse vending machines, or RVMs for short, are automated machines
that utilize advanced technology to identify, sort, collect and process
used beverage containers. In most cases, RVMs are used in markets that
have deposits on beverage containers, offering an efficient and convenient
method of identifying the deposit amount of each container returned
and providing a refund to the customer.
TOMRA currently has over 50,000 RVMs installed in 40 countries on four
