Manufacturing News Center Beyond Duties and Responsibilities Manufacturing hiring managers are more aware than ever of hiring carefully, choosing candidates that can immediately bring value to the organization. Resumes that suggest the applicant’s ability and knowledge to improve an operation are given first consideration. Don’t limit your opportunities by submitting a résumé that merely states your past job responsibilities. § Most hiring managers want to see accomplishments included with each job description. If you can describe your successful solution to a challenging situation, a process you improved, or a way that you made or saved money, your value exponentially increases over the candidate who simply lists duties and responsibilities. § Unfortunately, many qualified candidates are overlooked simply because their resume is weak. Résumé screening is impersonal and unforgiving – if it doesn’t adequately sell a prospect’s skills, experience and qualifications, it probably will not survive the first examination. Searching for employment
is often a draining and time-consuming job.
By learning and practicing some important facts as you take each
step of your search, you will be able to work smarter rather than harder
– increasing your chances of getting the offer you really want.
