July 30, 2004 -- Marktheidenfeld, (Germany) -- Jobwerx News -- Press Release -- In mid-July, OEMs and members of ELAU's Application and Development departments met again for the annual Experts' Roundtable. The purpose of this meeting is the exchange of information and experience between ELAU and PacDriveT users, among whom were representatives of IWK Verpackungstechnik, SIG Combibloc, Uhlmann and Bosch SIG Pack Systems.

The workshop lasted a day and a half and centered around the PacDrive automation system. Erwin Fertig, CEO of ELAU AG, offered a welcome speech and defined an "expert" as "a man, who knows precisely what will happen and afterwards knows precisely why everything turned out completely different." Technical presentations and detailed discussions ensued and care was taken to address topics of interest to each participant.

Software presentations explored the visualization capabilities of EPAS-4, safety engineering, and a preview of EPAS-4 V. 20. Various new PacDrive software tools were introduced to the users, such as EPAS-4's new capability to filter out unwanted harmonics from a move, which could cause machine oscillation.

PacDrive integrates motion, logic, programmable limit switches, temperature control, even robotic kinematics in software. With PacDrive, there are no performance-degrading add-on hardware modules, backplanes or software handshaking. Centralized control assures the fastest possible response times and servo axis counts.
