MAN Group Order for Oil and Gas Pipeline Station

MAN TURBO secures order from the Kazakh oil and gas company Intergas Central Asia for construction of a complete pipeline station.

MAN TURBO in Oberhausen has secured an order from the Kazakh oil and gas company Intergas Central Asia (ICA), the state gas transportation company, for the turnkey construction of a pipeline station. Valued at more than 80 million euros, this is the biggest single order placed with the Oberhausen company to date; moreover, these are the first gas turbine compressor units to be delivered to Kazakhstan.

The pipeline compressor station, which will replace an old station, is being built in collaboration with a local partner. MAN TURBO AG is supplying the equipment, seven gas turbines, type THM-1304, and the related pipeline compressors. For the first time ever, the company is not only delivering the related gas turbines and compressors but is responsible for the construction of the station as a whole with its partner thus giving the company a foothold in a market with considerable potential for the future.

The Central Asian Republic of Kazakhstan will redevelop its entire pipeline network dating from the 1970s with a view to improving its transportation capacity. This first station will considerably increase the flow rates of the Central Asia Center pipeline (CAC), which carries gas produced in Turkmenistan over roughly 830 km to Russia via Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan is one of the largest transit countries for oil and gas transportation, while having itself large oil and gas reserves too.

The pipeline station is due to be commissioned in 2007. MAN TURBO will then have an important reference identifying the company as a supplier of complete pipeline stations.
