Blind Bolt fasteners approved by aircraft manufacturer

The Embraer Phenom 300 Very Light Jet will now employ the UAB Blind Bolt fasteners for composite empennage and flaps in the manufacture of each aircraft.

UAB Blind Bolts from Alcoa Fastening Systems (AFS) have proved to simplify the installation process. One tool installs three different diameters, thus reducing tooling costs and facilitating automation and robotic installation. The installed fasteners provide greater spindle flushness for improved aerodynamic performance and cosmetic appearance. In addition, the blind side bulb of these fasteners is enhanced to provide additional grip overlap and improved performance on sloped surfaces.

The UAB (Unimatic Advanced Bolt) blind fastening system is ideal for composite structure and automated installation. It has all of the benefits and features of the traditional "MS" blind bolt family plus:

. Grip over lap in minimum and maximum grips
. Flush pin break
. Enhanced blind side bulb diameter
. One nosepice can be used to install three diameters (5/32", 3/16", and 1/4")
. Available in Corrosion Resistant Steel (CRES) or lightweight Titanium materials
