Alcoa Sells Brazilian Flexible Packaging Business Unit

PITTSBURGH, PA, (USA) --(JWXnewswire)--July 12, 2004-- Alcoa Aluminio S.A. has announced the sales of its Brazilian Flexible Packaging business unit known as Itaipava to Dixie Toga.

Approximately 200 people will be incorporated by Itap Bemis Brazil, a packaging company controlled by Dixie Toga.

Divesting this flexible packaging business unit is part of the January 2003 divestiture program to focus the company's business portfolio worldwide.

Alcoa continues to operate its global Flexible Packaging business serving customers in the in pharmaceutical, medical, food and beverage, confectionery, retail, tobacco and electronic industries via its nine facilities. (www.alcoaflexpack.com)

Terms for the sale of this business unit were not disclosed.
