EVANS CITY, Pa. - March 8, 2005 - Jobwerx News - Reagents for Suzuki coupling offer new potential for organic molecule synthesis.

BASF will present its broad portfolio of borane and metal alcoholate products that are used for organic syntheses to bench, research and process chemists and chemical engineers at this year's 229th American Chemical Society National Meeting and Exposition.

The company's exhibit will be at booths 841 and 843 in Hall C at the San Diego Convention Center, San Diego, Calif., and will be on display from March 14 - 16, 2005. BASF's Bill Atkins, Christopher Sutton and Richard Radomski will be staffing the booth.

"BASF's borane chemistry can help chemists to overcome many challenges that arise in synthesizing pharmaceutical active ingredients, agricultural chemicals and fine chemicals," said Bill Atkins, Technical Service Manager for BASF's Inorganics Group in North America. "By allowing chemists to form carbon-to-carbon bonds under mild reaction conditions in the presence of functional groups, our Suzuki reagents could help chemists to synthesize molecules that might not otherwise have been possible under the normally harsh conditions needed to form carbon-to-carbon bonds."

BASF's inorganic chemicals for organic synthesis include alkali metals, alcoholates used as strong bases and catalysts, borane chemicals used for selective reductions and hydroborations, and boron products that support Suzuki coupling. They have wide application for synthesis and production of pharmaceuticals, agricultural chemicals, surfactants, adhesives, polymers, flavors and fragrances.

BASF Corporation, headquartered in New Jersey, is the North American affiliate of BASF AG, Ludwigshafen, Germany.
