Polyurethane Chemicals
Production Facility to Close in Texas
Seattle, WA, USA--(Jobwerx News)--Carrollton, Texas chemicals plant to
be consolidated into other BASF polyurethane systems locations in the
United States.
BASF will close its polyurethane systems production facility in Carrollton,
Texas, by mid-2006. Production currently based there will be consolidated
into other BASF polyurethane systems locations in the U.S. Approximately
15 jobs will be affected.
"This action is necessary to improve our efficiency and cost competitiveness,"
said Bill Bernstein, Group Vice President of BASF's Polyurethanes business
in North America. "We regret the impact this will have on our Carrollton
employees, who have worked productively, safely and professionally. We
are committed to providing the necessary support services to assist our
employees during the transition."
Bernstein said this action is part of BASF's restructuring program in
North America to reduce fixed costs through a broad range of projects
designed to optimize business and site operations. He added that customers
will experience no disruption of service during the transition process.
BASF's Carrollton facility is a "system house" that produces urethane-based
chemical formulations used to produce a broad range of applications, such
as spray-applied polyurethane foams for insulating buildings.
