Buhler PARTEC, active in nanotechnology, and Brenntag Schweizerhall, provider of specialty and bulk chemicals, collaborate to bring the value of Carbon Nanotubes to the market.

The collaboration involves the development and production of tailor-made Carbon Nanotubes (CNT) dispersions by Buhler PARTEC and their marketing and distribution by Brenntag Schweizerhall.

Nanotechnology is one of the key technologies of the 21st century. Among the many nanostructured materials CNTs are of special interest as they are used to manufacture mechanically reinforced composites, as well as electrically conducting materials. CNTs are molecular carbon fibres with a diameter of approx. 10 nm and a length of up to several µm. Due to the fibrous structure and the nanometer size, the incorporation of CNTs into liquids, resins and polymers to improve mechanical or electrical properties of materials and products is a major challenge. The difficulty in processing CNTs has so far impeded the widespread use of these intriguing nanostructures in industry. Through the collaboration of Buhler PARTEC and Brenntag Schweizerhall ready-to-use, customised CNT dispersions will become generally available to the market.
