Improved cooling, higher output, touch screen controls

Manufacturing News Center - Buhler TSK Extrusion Systems show the latest developments on the TSK extruder range at the K 2004 in Düsseldorf. The BTSK-30 is a co-rotating twin-screw extruder, which is suited for laboratory use and corresponding production capacities.

BSTK-30 Extruder Series features touch screen panel display

SEATTLE, WA, U.S.A. -- September 20, 2004 -- Jobwerx News -- Thus, the entire BTSK extruder model range is now fitted with an internally cooled housing. Every housing can be efficiently cooled with water via cooling bores, which produces a more efficient operation and higher capacities. Furthermore, the torque per shaft has been raised to 135 Nm, which is available over the entire r.p.m. scope. The machine has a 37 kW motor.

The housing can be delivered in two varieties: either in standard execution as mono block in nitrided steel, or in the two-piece execution with wear bushings. The compact piping system for the cooling of the housing is installed at the side opposite of the operator. This allows full access to the operator side for ease of operation and maintenance. In order to enable application of the machine for trial purposes the piping for the cooling system is a very flexible design for fast addaption to specific applications. The process section is heated by means of electrical heating shells, up to a maximum temperature of 450°C.

The 30 mm extruder is the first of the BTSK that is operated by means of a 15" touch panel. Buhler is utilizing similar control systems with great success for a wide range of machines and processes. In the near future the entire BTSK extruder series will be available with touch screen operating panels.

The TSK series of Buhler Extruders range from the new BTSK 20 for research and development up to the production extruder BTSK 175 with throughputs up to 10 t/h.

Buhler is the global technology partner for production systems, engineering solutions and the associated services in the food processing industry, in chemical process engineering and in die casting.

Visit Bühler AG TSK Extrusion Systems and inspect the BSTK-30 at the K 2004 Show in hall 12 at stand 12 B 49.
