Plastics Packaging Concepts
Provide Effective Responses
Seattle, WA, USA--(Jobwerx News)--Eastman Chemical Company, manufacturer
of chemicals, fibers and plastics materials, supports the cosmetic packaging
industry at Luxe Pack.
Eastman Chemical Company has been supporting the cosmetic packaging industry
by continuously investing in the developments of proprietary technologies,
dedicated products and cosmetics industry-specific expertise for many
years. Their strong commitment to innovation results in the development
of an extended range of products and packaging concepts that provide effective
responses to the cosmetics markets and the design industry.
At Luxe Pack, Eastman has reported that the booth will feature a range
of applications made with the Glass Polymer™ that have played a significant
role in luxury packaging trends and demonstrated the capabilities to provide
elegant answers to the complex needs of various sensories, innovative
functionalities and high level of protection.
The key product is the Glass Polymer, a resin family that has been developed
for the production of high clarity, thick-walled and shatter resistant
containers. The Glass Polymer offers extended design possibilities and
shelf differentiation by making it possible to design elegant thick-walled
containers with beauty and strength. The high processing flexibility of
the Glass Polymer makes it suitable for any plastics processing technology,
such as injection moulding and blow moulding. The material range provides
designers with a durable, yet clear packaging material.

Pebbles
To demonstrate the sensory properties of Eastman materials, Eastman introduced
the Material Difference™ sample program and presents the 'pebble',
a palm-of-your-hand sized sample that highlights the sensorial qualities
of the Tenite® Natural Polymer, a material made from renewable resources.
Chocolatine
Eastman Chemical Company has initiated a joint leading edge development
project. Bringing together the expertise from four leading companies -
EJ Pack, Rotuba, Eurofragance and Eastman Chemical - has led to the introduction
of a new marketing concept: the use of scent in packaging - especially
for key markets such as cosmetics and personal care. To demonstrate the
benefits of such a concept, Eastman has introduced "Chocolatine" - a fully
realised product which combines a number of market innovations.
"Chocolatine" consists of a thick-walled, highly clear injection blow-moulded
jar made from the Glass Polymer containing a scented cream with chocolate/vanilla/orange
fragrance and a jar lid in scented resin that actually disperses a scent
identical to the one of the cream - to provide additional market appeal.
In producing this prototype, the four partners have joined their expertise
in order to demonstrate the latest technologies that are available to
producers and marketers in high end markets. "Chocolatine" proves that
it is possible to render a complex fragrance and trap it durably into
a plastic material produced from natural feedstock using encapsulation
technology. In addition it demonstrates that it is possible to produce
thick-walled containers of complex and innovative geometry using the Glass
Polymer.
Rectangular, oval and round shaped new bottles in the Glass Polymer
Developed with the new grade of Glass Polymer dedicated to EBM (Extrusion
Blow Moulding) technology, Eastman presents the latest range of highly
differentiated cosmetic bottles from REBHAN (Germany), a specialist processor
of bottles for cosmetic products.
Thick walls, high clarity and gloss, unique optical effects and designs:
A winning partnership combining material and processing expertises that
make the “impossible” doable.
