Robot Technology for Packaging Machines ELAU expands PacDrive system to enhance robot technology pick and place solutions with up to 130 cycles per minute for packaging machines.
ELAU has expanded the PacDrive system to include robot mechanics: The
PacDrive Robot P3 represents a complete mechanics package for integrating
Pick&Place-applications in packaging machines. The robotic library
supports a fast and easy software integration of the solution into the
control program of packaging machines.
During operation, noise emission is below 70 dB(a). Directly controlled arms and ceramic balls in the joints cut maintenance costs and simplify the replacement of individual components. The robot for the packaging machines can be driven both by standard PacDrive SH motors and by PacDrive iSH Intelligent Servo Modules. The intelligent servo modules integrate the drive electronics directly
with the motors, significantly reducing electrical cabinet space and wiring.
With servo modules, a single hybrid cable connects the robot to the control.
This advantage can be especially useful in long picker machine lines with
multiple robot stations. I/O option modules mount readily on the servo
modules and allow sensors and actuators on the robot, to be connected
without additional wiring. The PacDrive Robot P3 was introduced on a commercially available machine
by Weber Maschinenbau at the IFFA 2007 trade fair in Frankfurt, May 5
to 10. Packaging
