Eastman Chemicals to
Expand Hydrocarbon Resin Production in China
To meet growing demand Nanjing Yangzi Eastman Chemicals joint venture
facility will increase production capacity of hydrocarbon resins.
Eastman Chemical Company (NYSE:EMN) has announced expansion of hydrocarbon
resin production capacity by 30 percent at its Nanjing Yangzi Eastman
Chemical Ltd. (NYEC) facility to meet growing demand in the Asia Pacific
region. When this expansion is brought on line in May 2006, it will increase
the production capacity of hydrocarbon resins from 40 million pounds to
52 million pounds.
"In the four years since our NYEC joint venture began production, demand
for Eastman hydrocarbon resins has increased significantly throughout
Asia, and most notably in China," said Damon Warmack, vice president and
general manager of Eastman's coatings, adhesives, specialty polymer and
inks business. "NYEC has demonstrated the ability to make products that
customers value in their adhesive formulations, and this expansion demonstrates
that we are committed to growing with our customers as their markets expand
in the Asia Pacific region."
NYEC, a joint venture between Eastman Chemical Ltd. and Yangzi Petrochemical
Industrial Corporation (YPIC), is the largest producer of hydrogenated
hydrocarbon resins in the Asia Pacific region. NYEC was Eastman's first
joint venture in China as well as the first plant outside the United States
to produce Eastotac hydrocarbon resins. Find

Eastotac tackifying hydrocarbon resins have a wide range of end-use applications
including pressure-sensitive adhesives, caulks and sealants. Manufacturers
also use Eastotac hydrocarbon resins to produce hot melt adhesives for
packaging applications in addition to glue sticks, tapes, labels and other
adhesive applications. NYEC also produces Regalite C6100 hydrocarbon resin
which is a used in high-performance adhesive applications, such as nonwoven
assembly, packaging, bookbinding, glue sticks, pressure-sensitive tape
and label adhesives, that require excellent adhesion and thermal stability.

Yangzi Petrochemical Corporation (YPC), one of the largest petrochemical
