Monday Night Football at the Superdome keeps on going with Energizer

Energizer announces support of Music Rising at special pre-game performance of ESPN's Monday Night Football at the Louisiana Superdome.

The Music Rising pre-game performance will be an unforgettable musical experience when two of rock's most sought after bands, U2 and Green Day, perform their rendition of "The Saints Are Coming." The download via Rhapsody.com will be available that evening with all proceeds going directly to Music Rising and its Phase II initiative. Music Rising was formed in November 2005 by U2's The Edge, producer Bob Ezrin and Gibson Chairman and CEO Henry Juszkiewicz. Its first phase aided over 2,000 professional musicians to date. Phase II of Music Rising will focus on aiding churches and schools by replacing the lost or destroyed instruments from the hurricane disasters. Music Rising is administered by The Gibson Foundation.

Energizer is committed to keep the music going in New Orleans, a city known for its rich music history, through a $50,000 donation to Music Rising. Energizer has supported the victims of Hurricane Katrina since the disaster happened and continues their support as the online presenting sponsor of this unique download opportunity.

In addition to the download, fans will have a chance post-event to bid on the first Epiphone Music Rising guitar produced which features the artwork seen on the t-shirt worn by U2's The Edge at the Grammys. Epiphone, a Gibson brand, is producing a limited quantity of these guitars for sale through Musicians Friend (musiciansfriend.com). All proceeds will go directly to Music Rising. ) featured in the Energizer-Rhapsody auction will be the same guitar autographed by The Edge personally on the field during rehearsal for the pre-game performance. Energizer will match the winning bid of the Music Rising Epiphone guitar up to an agreed amount.

The guitar, available through Guitar Center (guitarcenter.com/musicrising/), captures the essence of the Gulf Coast’s musical tradition. A very limited quantity will be produced with all proceeds benefiting Music Rising and a pledge of $1 million in support. The Gibson Music Rising guitar features hand-painted designs using the colors of Mardi Gras. Each guitar will be individually painted and handmade so no two will be alike. All of the usual plastic parts (back plate, pick guard, toggle cover, truss rod cover) have been replaced by woods from the states affected by the hurricanes and the Music Rising logo, exclusive to this guitar, is etched into the pick guard. The Music Rising guitar is priced at $3,334.00 and is available through Guitar Center beginning in late December. The Edge will appear in VH1 public service announcements for the program at the end of November.
