Plastics in All Colors Evonik subsidiary Colortrend will demonstrate its POLYTREND color system at the K 2007 international plastics trade show in Dusseldorf.
At the K 2007 international plastics trade show in Dusseldorf between October 24 and 31, the POLYTREND* color system will be presented at its own booth. Colortrend B.V. of Maastricht, a subsidiary of Evonik Industries (formerly Degussa), will demonstrate its color system in use at Booth D19 in Hall 7a. With 30 years of experience in the plastics industry and worldwide market
leadership in color systems, Evonik Industries enjoys a formidable reputation
in the technology of plastics coloring. The innovative combination of
color mixing technology with liquid colors for plastics offers almost
unlimited opportunities for color design at the point where the plastic
is processed. Evonik Colortrend will be presenting two systems at K 2007:
POLYTREND Color Infusion* and the more advanced and revolutionary POLYTREND
Color Infusion Plus*. Faster and more flexible
POLYTREND Color Infusion is an offline mixing system and represents a
major step toward greater flexibility and speed, because it allows customers
to produce selectively colored plastics and to react immediately to market
requirements. It combines specially developed system liquid colors with
an automated precision mixing station also developed specially for the
purpose. This allows plastics processors to produce the required color
themselves, selectively and in any required quantity, with no lead time.
Evonik Colortrend is working closely with its customers on the adaptation
of such a system, to allow them to match colors at the point of processing.
In this way, the customer saves time that can be utilized for development,
licensing, production of special color samples, and subsequent production. Mix as you please
The fully integrated, patented POLYTREND Color Infusion Plus color system represents a logical extension of this development. Its advantage is that it allows accurate mixing and feeding of the desired colors at the point where the plastic is processed to a semifinished or end product. POLYTREND Color Infusion Plus allows unproblematic color adjustment during production and faster color change than with any conventional system. “With our metering and mixing systems, the customer no longer needs to buy ready-mixed colors, but can mix them himself to produce the desired hue. This is, quite simply, revolutionary,” says Dr. Martin Welp, managing director of Evonik Colortrend. “This affords an unprecedented degree of flexibility, speed, and customer orientation; with POLYTREND the customer can react to market requirements extremely rapidly and accurately.” Evonik Industries innovation offers accurate computer-assisted color design and adjustment. The customized color mixtures can be fed in a precise and easily regulated manner, offline or inline, to the injection molding machines or extruders—in exactly the quantity and specification required for the production batch. “Through intensive customer projects, we have optimized handling of liquid colors to the extent that the customer is able to work in production cleanly and easily after only the briefest orientation,” says Frank Huynen, sales and marketing director of POLYTREND.
