Igus Plastics Products
are Optimized in the Car Wash Industry
Intelligent Wash Systems, a leader in the car wash industry, is using
Igus plastics cable carriers in its new touch-free car wash system.
Igus® Inc., delivers squeaky clean performance with its Energy Chain®
and Chainflex® continuous-flex cables for Intelligent Wash Systems'
new touch-free car wash system called The Storm.
Based out of Denver, Col., Intelligent Wash Systems provides its customers
with a number of car wash solutions such as self-service, automatic, tunnel
system and freestanding machines. The Storm, a popular choice among the
company’s offerings, is maintenance-free and delivers an unsurpassed cleaning
to cars of various sizes and styles by using state-of-the-art software.
Since The Storm’s creation two years ago, the machine has been equipped
with System E4/4 Energy Chain cable carrier and Chainflex CF140 US, a
power and control cable. The System E4/4 E-Chain® is designed for particularly
demanding environments, making it well suited for the tough jobs handled
by The Storm, such as washing dual-size trucks and full-size Hummers.
Seven feet of the Energy Chain is used to manage and protect five Chainflex
cables also employed in the car wash.

Both Energy Chain and Chainflex deliver a first-rate performance, functioning
almost seamlessly against elements such as dirt, sand and grit, as well
as temperatures ranging from 20 to 130 degrees Fahrenheit.
Igus has more than 28,000 products available from stock, meeting the
motion control and machinery component needs of customers worldwide developing
and manufacturing industry-leading plastics cable carriers, continuous-flex
cables, plastics bearings and linear guide systems. Find

Steve Chase, owner of Intelligent Wash Systems, believes Energy Chain
and Chainflex are important parts of The Storm now and in the future.
“I chose igus for a number of reasons. The price is competitive, the sales
support is great and the increased longevity of igus’ products over comparable
solutions is a plus,” said Chase. “Currently, we are using Energy Chain
and Chainflex on five to six machines per year and we hope to increase
that number to between 50 and 60 in the near future.”
Intelligent
Wash Systems
has been using Energy Chain and Chainflex since The Storm’s inception
in 2003 and will continue using igus as the machine evolves. Intelligent
Wash Systems has designed The Storm to be completely maintenance-free
for a full five-year period – using igus’ products to help accomplish
this goal.
