2007-02-21 News Release
LANXESS chemicals at Bauma 2007 At Bauma 2007 the LANXESS chemicals groups will present its line of inorganic pigments and metering technology designed for the coloration of construction materials.
At the Bauma 2007 construction machinery and equipment trade fair in
Munich, Germany, LANXESS presence at the fair will revolve around its
line of inorganic pigments for the coloration of construction materials,
their metering and the associated technical service.
Colorful concrete paving stones, featured at right, continue making strong
inroads in the paving industry. In addition to being resistant to freeze/thaw
cycles, snow, ice and extreme heat, they offer design flexibility. Designers
and homeowners can choose from a variety of colors, shapes and sizes to
create a truly unique sidewalk or road. It is easy to install by yourself
or by a contractor. From Old World charm to corporate commercialism, colorful
concrete paving stones are just right for the job. At the fore of the Inorganic Pigments business unit’s (belonging to the Chemical Intermediates segment) presence at the fair are the new Bayferrox G Premium pigments. In construction materials, the granules produce shades with significantly higher saturation and greater brilliance. With Bayferrox VP LXS 5241 (black), Bayferrox VP LXS 5242 (red) and Bayferrox VP LXS 5243 (yellow), products for all common shades are available. The new specialty pigment Bayferrox VP LXS 5241 has a significantly stronger blue undertone and greater tinting strength than previous black grades from LANXESS. The products’ good flow characteristics greatly simplify transportation from the scale to the mixer. LANXESS also offers Bayferrox C compact pigments and Bayferrox G granules, which are likewise available in the base colors red, yellow and black. Additive metering allows processors to mix the desired shade themselves. The advantages of additive metering for the construction materials industry are twofold: reduced costs due to simpler storage and greater flexibility to provide the colors requested by the customer. The Competence Center Construction within the Inorganic Pigments business unit provides technical advice on questions of mixing and metering technology. LANXESS also offers a unique service: start-to-finish support for the purchase or lease of a metering unit, from unit planning to completion. This ranges from the initial planning steps to help with the selection of a competent equipment manufacturer and advice on financing of the unit. Inorganic pigments from the Bayferrox and Chrome Oxide Green lines are not only proven performers for the coloration of concrete, they also have a decades-long record of performance for the coloration of paints and coatings, plastic and paper, and when used as specialty pigments for toner and other applications. LANXESS produces approximately 300,000 tons of inorganic pigments each year at locations in Germany and other European countries, the U.S.A., Brazil, Australia and China. * Bayferrox is a registered trademark of Bayer AG, Germany.
