Chemicals group to showcase inorganic pigments at Big 5

The LANXESS chemicals group to showcase its comprehensive range of inorganic pigments for the construction and coatings industries at trade show in the Arabian Gulf region.

At one of the most important trade shows in the Arabian Gulf region, around 2,000 companies from 50 countries will present their products and services at the Big 5 Show in the Dubai International Exhibition Centre from October 28 to November 1. The event will combine five exhibitions under one roof - extending from the construction industry and HVAC (heating, ventilation and air-conditioning) to cleaning and maintenance.

With investments totaling some 300 billion US dollars - 120 billion thereof in Dubai alone - the region is currently undergoing an unprecedented construction boom. With a focus on Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the tallest buildings, the world’s largest shopping centers, artificial islands as well as entire new towns, hotel resorts, golf courses, roads, ports, and free-trade areas are being developed as strategic compensation for declining oil reserves. LANXESS, one of the world's leading manufacturers of iron oxide pigments, wants to share in this growing market. The Inorganic Pigments business unit is part of the Chemical Intermediates Segment. Simon Bower, Head of Marketing for Middle East & Africa in the Inorganic Pigments Business Unit, says, "We want to continue actively developing our business in the Gulf region and expand our marketing and customer service there. The Big 5 Show is the most important construction exhibition in the Gulf region, and serves as an ideal platform for intensifying our customer relations in the Middle East."

LANXESS intends to strengthen its marketing team in Jebel Ali, United Arab Emirates (UAE), and thereby expand its service for key customers. Smaller volume business in the region will be handled by a distributor, Recon Chemicals. Based in Dubai, Recon markets the inorganic pigments of LANXESS Deutschland GmbH, LANXESS Shanghai Pigments Ltd. and LANXESS Ltd. (formerly W. Hawley & Son Ltd.) in the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman.
