Chemicals Group new European microbiology lab Privately held textile and chemicals group opens new European microbiology laboratory bringing faster, one stop microbiology customer support.
As a result of continued growth and market acceptance for the Alphasan* silver inorganic antimicrobial technology, Milliken Chemical Europe (a business unit of Milliken Europe N.V.) has invested in a new Microbiology Laboratory, to expand their technical service offering to customers. Located at Milliken’s Technical Centre in Gent, Belgium, the company’s
European customers can now take advantage of faster, more efficient microbiology
support.
Milliken & Company is one of the world’s largest privately
held textile and chemical corporations. Milliken Chemical Operating in combination with existing plastics processing and textile facilities and regulatory consultation services, the new microbiology laboratory completes Milliken’s in-house support infrastructure for those European customers interested in antimicrobial features. Dr. Elke De Clerck, PhD (Microbiology), Technical Services Manager at the new Milliken Europe Microbiology Laboratory, comments: “This new resource forms part of our strategy to expand our service in Europe, reinforcing Milliken’s commitment to prioritising the needs of customers by providing quicker and more efficient technical support. We are looking forward to the opportunities this closer co-operation will bring, in particular with regard to exploring new application areas.” The facility offers standard microbiology equipment such as inoculation and colony counting facilities, sterilization autoclaves, safety cabinets, incubators and microscopy services. The current lab team includes a Lab Co-ordinator, responsible for performing and co-ordinating daily activities, and Technical Services Manager Dr. De Clerck, who supervises testing and provides a link to customers and the sales team. In addition to customer test facilities, the laboratory will support
R&D activity relating to Milliken’s Alphasan silver inorganic
antimicrobial technology.
