Nordson Corporation and Ason Neumag Corporation Settle Litigation

Manufacturing News Center - Synthetic staple fiber machinery business settles litigation with leading producer of precision dispensing equipment

USA-November 17, 2004-Jobwerx News-Ason Neumag Corporation and Nordson Corporation (Nasdaq: NDSN) have settled their pending litigation in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida relating to Nordson's spunbond equipment and its operation. Ason Neumag had alleged infringement of United States Patent Nos. 6,136,245; 5,688,468 and 6,183,684. Nordson had counterclaimed for a declaration of invalidity and unenforceability of the Ason patents and for a declaration of non-infringement.

The parties have agreed that Nordson's spunbond technology is distinct from Ason's technology, is owned by Nordson and does not infringe upon any Ason rights anywhere in the world. The litigation, including the counterclaim, has been dismissed with prejudice.

Ason Neumag Corporation was acquired by Neumag, Zweigniederlassung of Saurer GmbH & Co. KG, in 2002. Neumag is a brand of Saurer Textile Solutions, the world's leading supplier of technologically sophisticated textile systems. Neumag is the world's leading company in the BCF and synthetic staple fiber machinery business, the latter partly for the Nonwoven industry. As a supplement to the spunbond plants and to expand the solution competence in the nonwoven sector, Neumag recently took over the Danish airlaid system supplier M&J Fibretech.

Nordson Corporation, now in its 50th year of operations, is the world's leading producer of precision dispensing equipment. Nordson equipment applies adhesives, sealants and coatings to a broad range of consumer and industrial products during manufacturing operations. Nordson also manufactures turn-key meltblowing, spunbonded and composite nonwoven systems, as well as technology- based systems for curing and surface-treatment processes. Headquartered in Westlake, Ohio, Nordson has direct operations in 30 countries and 3,500 employees worldwide.
