Clinton, Massachusetts -- May 5 -- Nypro, quietly announced a new $10 million state-of-the-art 105,000-square-foot factory, which will contain a technical center, an automated manufacturing facility as well as a clean room focused mainly on the medical device assembly business.

The remaining operations will be custom and contract plastics molding for electronics, telecommunications and health care-related plastic molding.

A top source related that Nypro Medical Products Group, an 80-employee business unit formed a few years ago, intends to add initailly, 50 jobs, with another 150 jobs to be added over the next three years to the regular molding group. And added, that the Medical Products Group business sector has increased from $10 million in revenue two years ago to $30 million this year, with a goal to reach $100 million within a few years.

The news follows a 30-person layoff in Clinton in March and a reduction in Nypro's overall Massachusetts work force from 1,200 to 1,100 people last year.

Nypro's already solid manufacturing reputation and decision to expand into medical device molding will have long-term economic impact in the Worcester, Massachusetts area.
