Rexam Packaging wins
top European Supply Chain Awards
Packaging and beverage can maker Rexam captures Supply Chain Excellence
Awards along with Engineering and General Manufacturing category.
Rexam, the global consumer packaging company and the world’s leading
beverage can maker, has been named overall winner of this year’s European
Supply Chain Excellence Awards.
It also picked up the main award in the separate Engineering and General
Manufacturing category for the second year in a row.
Rexam‘s winning European & Asian beverage can operation beat off stiff
competition from other blue chip companies, including O2, to win the overall
award. In its summary the judging panel commended Rexam for its ability
to show an exemplary degree of adaptiveness and its ability to “work tirelessly
and creatively to demonstrate to customers and suppliers the value they
add to the supply chain”.
In recent years Rexam has introduced a number of supply chain best practice
models to improve business performance. In this case, it started with
a programm designed to build closer supplier partnerships by focusing
on total cost (to both parties) rather than price. Further developments
such as e-portals are enhancing collaboration with customers and suppliers
even further.
Lars Emilson, Rexam’s Chief Executive, commented: “I am naturally delighted
for the team and Rexam. Operational efficiency, allied to continuous improvement,
is one of the corner stones of our overall strategy. Our focus on this
type of activity enables us to build strong and lasting relationships
with our customers and streamline the supply chain to the benefit of all
concerned. The awards demonstrate our commitment to innovation and the
sustainability of our approach. In establishing world class standards,
the supply chain team at our European and Asian beverage can operation
has become the benchmark for supply chain excellence.”
The Supply Chain Excellence Awards are organised by leading trade magazine
