Closures Cap Stands Up For Convenience The new RPC closures design features specially developed technology within the dispensing spout cap for headstand sauce bottles.
RPC Containers Halstead has developed a new closures cap for headstand sauce bottles, the design of which is currently subject of a patent application that offers both enhanced consumer convenience and environmental benefits. Instead of the use of a valve in another material - usually silicon - to control the flow of the product, the RPC design features specially developed technology within the spout. This enables a smaller opening to be used, which improves dispense, and also creates a ‘suck back’ action that pulls product back into the bottle to ensure a clean orifice after each use. In addition, this closures solution provides a single material cap and therefore enhances its recycling potential, an increasingly important consideration for retailers and manufacturers. The directional dispensing spout helps to ensure a more accurate and controlled dispense of the product. A plug-in seal in the base of the flip open section of the cap fits into the spout on closure to enable the bottle to be stored upside down with no leakage.
The cap is injection moulded in polypropylene with the dispensing spout available in two sizes - optimised for ketchups and sauces, and for mayonnaise and salad creams. Other sizes will be available for relish type products, which contain larger particles. “We believe this is a very exciting development which provides manufacturers with another option for effective use of the headstand bottle concept,” comments RPC Halstead Sales and Marketing Manager Linda Grainge. “Consumers appreciate the benefit of the directional spout which enables them to better control the delivery of the sauce, while for manufacturers a single material solution is both more cost-effective and provides a more favourable environmental profile.” The launch of this new closures concept coincides with plans by RPC Corby
to extend its ranges of headstand bottles for sauces and ketchups. Over
the next few months both Orion and Hercules will be available in several
new sizes following demands from the market-place. Plastics
