Tooling manufacturer Schunk introduces Magnetic Workholding Systems Manufacturer of Tooling, Workholding and Automation Components, Schunk Inc, announces the introduction of MAGNOS, providing companies with one more option for workpiece retention.
SCHUNK Inc., Morrisville, NC, USA, introduces a new line to its stationary workholding program, MAGNOS Magnetic workholding. Adding magnetic workholding to the already large offering, SCHUNK now has a complete range of workholding systems available to cover all machining operations on milling machines and machining centers. For MAGNOS, SCHUNK relies on the innovative technology of electro-permanent magnets, which require only a brief amount of electricity to activate and deactivate the magnetic field. A uniform clamping force is possible thanks to the poles’ square geometry. Reliable clamping, even during rough machining, is assured due to the high holding forces of the magnets. Different pole sizes of 50, 75 and 100 mm are available, enabling the holding forces to make it suitable for individual requirements. Additional pole extensions are available as accessories to improve workpiece location and to compensate for surface irregularities.
The advantage of magnetic workholding is that efficient five-sided machining
is possible at very high holding forces, without any interference from
contours of the clamping system. Pole extensions that act as a workpiece
support allow the user to position different workpieces rapidly and precisely
thus improving the productivity of the machine. * Workpieces can be machined from 5 sides in one set-up hence reducing
set-up times Mounting of the magnet is possible either horizontally or vertically
on any machine table. Applications for magnetic workholding are numerous
so give us a call today and ask us for a solution to your customer specific
workholding challenge. SCHUNK magnetic workholding, combined with the UNILOCK quick-change pallet
system, guarantees maximum flexibility in any manufacturing process while
drastically reducing set-up times and set-up costs.
