SCHUNK Inc., Morrisville, North Carolina, USA, introduces a new stationary clamping vise known as KONTEC KSL. Cubic workpieces can easily be clamped onto universal vertical machining centers or any 4th or 5th axes table with this new SCHUNK clamping vise. When a safe, cost-effective workholding solution is required for multiple part production, the KONTEC KSL vise fits the bill.

The vise stands out with its low maintenance, high flexibility and ease of handling. The design of the body and integrated ports allow coolant and chips to escape the clamping zone, making the vise resistant to contamination and easy to clean. The KONTEC KSL offers multiple clamping possibilities with numerous standard jaw configurations thereby increasing the clamping capabilities. The mounting holes located in the fixed jaw allow mounting of workpiece stops from both sides. By using a rack and pinion design, the movable jaw can be adjusted quickly and positioned precisely. With the use of a special quick lever, the clamping operation is done within seconds – just a small rotation with no need for a crank handle or a bevel gear. This means that the KONTEC KSL can be positioned at any location, even in the center of a machining table.

Actuation of the KONTEC KSL is done from the side of the fixed jaw via an allen key equipped with a ratchet. The vise securely clamps your workpieces with clamping forces up to 50 kN. The vise is available in three sizes with a width of the base jaws of 100 mm, 125 mm or 160 mm and can be combined with numerous types of top jaws. Due to various types of available interfaces, the KONTEC KSL vice can be mounted to the machine table using lateral or vertical keyways. The KONTEC KSL vices can also be easily combined with the UNILOCK Quick-Change Pallet System.
