Part of Sandvik Tooling
sold to machine tool builder
Machine tool building pioneer and one of the leading producers of metal
cutting machine tools purchases Sandvik Tobler, part of the Sandvik Tooling
business area.
Sandvik Tobler SAS, France, part of Sandvik AB's Tooling Business unit,
has been purchased by Mori Seiki Co.Ltd, Nagoya, Japan, a global machine
tool company that manufactures and sells lathes and multi axis turning
centers to the automotive, aerospace, energy, engineering and medical
industries.
Sandvik Tobler with operations in Louvres, employing approximately 80
personnel, develops and produces precision chucks, mandrels, clamping
solutions and other tooling primarily for the automotive and aerospace
industries.
“The divestment of Sandvik Tobler entails the discontinuation of
an operation that is outside the business area's core operation,”
says Anders Thelin, President of Sandvik Tooling.
Mori Seiki is a pioneer in machine tool building and one of the leading
producers of metal cutting machine tools. Mori Seiki and Sandvik have
cooperated for many years in the field of metal working. In June 2005
MORI SEIKI set a clear example by establishing a new Technical Center
and the European Headquarters in Paris.
The sale of the Tooling Business, Sandvik Tobler, France to Mori Seiki,
is expected to be concluded in January 2008, subject to approval by the
relevant authorities.
