Elettric 80 are the companies representing the SIG Group at the event.
They will bring all their expertise to the fair for their specific fields
of competence.
SIG Group will be present at the Show at Hall 5B - Booth R 10
SIG Alfa
SIG Alfa is Italy’s leading
producer in the labelling sector and the world’s second largest in terms
of net sales and workforce. Its product range covers all existing labeling
technologies and applications, thus covering all market segments.
Product Desciption: Alfa Rollfed Labellers - Exact label positioning
(Spotting)
There is an increasing market demand for positioning labels exactly
at the same point on the bottle corresponding to a special logo or impression
on the bottle. This means the bottle must be oriented at the infeed
to the labelling station. Thanks to its long and extensive experience
in the field, SIG Alfa has created several successful applications offering
customers two separate solutions:
Electronic orientation achieved by applying servomotors to each of the
bottle support plates in the labelling station. The servomotors rotate
the bottle to the correct position according to a signal received from
a special inductive or optical-fiber sensor able to read the exact position
of the bottle where labelling is to start. This is a very high-tech
solution to be used in those cases where the logo or impression on the
bottle are not easily seen or in any case cannot be detected by mechanical
systems. Mechanical orientation achieved by using a special orientation
station positioned immediately before the labelling station. This technology
requires the bottle to have a notch or a rib on the bottle exterior
that can be detected by a special mechanical device. The bottle is rotated
on a dedicated starwheel and in this phase is locked into the correct
position by the detector and then, perfectly orientated, moves on to
the labelling station. This is a simple and reliable solution based
on - long-term - experience in developing and designing orientating
systems.
Glass Bottles
Roll-fed labelling machines are normally used for PET bottles, but the
market also demands roll-fed applications for plastic labels on glass
bottles. This kind of labelling is complicated due to the fact that
the rigid structure of the bottle means there is no elastic return in
the bottle against the pressure exercised by the label transfer drum.
SIG Alfa has innovatively and very successfully solved this problem
by developing a special label transfer drum for glass bottles. The external
surface of the drum is fitted with small sprung sheet-steel plates (a
patented system) so that the drum ensures constant pressure during label
application. Moreover, the system means that inevitable slight differences
in the body diameter or slight ovality of glass bottles can be accommodated
with no detrimental effect on the labelling quality.
Adhesive Labellers
SIG Alfa has recently developed new applications in this sector in order
to increase outputs up to 60,000 bph. The main market in this case is
beer, and the major brewers are increasingly requesting labels with a
“no-label look” for glass or plastic bottles. SIG Alfa has developed a
family of adhesive machines suitable for applying three different kinds
of labels on the same bottle format and with the following features:
Master-slave system made up of twin adhesive heads able to work alternatively
without any downtime or reduction in output; the system also means label
reels can be changed without any loss in production Complete control through
servo-interlocking of the labelling application speed Regular and uniform
compensation by means of a new original pneumatic system for stretching
the label ribbon even at top speeds (over 130 meters per minute) Extremely
easy access to all machine parts and user-friendly bottle format or label
changeovers.
