Specialist in aseptic carton packaging celebrates 25th anniversary Aseptic carton packaging and filling machines company is celebrating 25 years of activity in Austria and now servicing customers in 19 other countries.
The company, which produces aseptic carton packaging and filling machines,
SIG Combibloc in Saalfelden (Austria), focus has always been the developing
and processing key strategic markets in Eastern and Central Europe.
The longitudinal seam is then sealed. A special type of fold prevents the product from coming into contact with the uncoated cut edge. This guarantees maximum product safety and hygiene. The history of SIG Combibloc in Saalfelden began in 1979 with the signing of the Memorandum of Association. After two years of construction, the official green light was given for production in 1981. The original emphasis was on cutting and sealing cardboard that had already been fully coated and printed with specific customer designs. The following year, the Saalfelden plant was expanded to include an extruder and a printing press. A process of continuous development enabled capacity in packaging production to reach an annual output of 1.5 billion cardboard packs as early as 1992. The 15-billionth pack left the plant in 2002. “The successful development of SIG Combibloc in Austria is essentially based on the pioneering spirit of the entire staff, which ensures a high level of motivation, reliability, joint responsibility and power of innovation,” says Walter Thaller, Managing Director of SIG Combibloc Saalfelden. “The status of our location within SIG Combibloc is based on a series of positive factors, including innovation as well as a good working environment, a pronounced willingness to get involved, a process of continuous improvement and efficiency through short official channels.” Regarding the markets, Saalfelden concentrated from the outset on developing
Eastern European markets, given its geographical location, and acquired
its first customers in Hungary in the early 1980s. In parallel with the
expansion of the business into the Eastern European countries, further
branches were deliberately established to ensure proximity to the customers
and provide them with the best possible attention on-site. Saalfelden
is now responsible for sales in the Central European market area, which
has grown to comprise 19 countries. It currently employs about 360 people.
