Park Ridge, NJ, and San Diego, CA, USA-- October 12, 2004-- Jobwerx News -- As part of Sony Electronics' continued focus on environmental protection and conservation efforts, the company today announced an agreement with Envirocycle Inc. for the operation of a post-consumer electronics recycling operation at the electronics' company's Southern California headquarters.

"Sony's leadership in electronics recycling since 1990 have resulted in programs that now recycle more than 95 percent of electronic waste either produced by Sony at our manufacturing sites or collected by Sony though product returns and in warranty repair items," said Mark Small, vice president of environmental affairs, Sony Electronics. "Our post-consumer electronics recycling programs as well as our relationship with Envirocycle over the last 10 years reflect our continued dedication to protecting the environment."

The 25,000-square-foot facility located on the Sony campus in Rancho Bernardo will be operated and managed by Envirocycle Inc. The facility will recycle televisions, computer display monitors and laptop computers. Consumers will benefit by having a convenient recycling facility to service Southern California and support recycling programs located in San Diego.

Sony Electronics is a leader in the recycling of consumer electronics, as this will be the second recycling center managed by Envirocycle at a major Sony U.S. facility. It will also be the fourth center dedicated by Sony Electronics to recycling waste electronics generated from the U.S. market. Sony has a more than 10-year working relationship with Envirocycle to collect, recycle and re-use post consumer materials.
