Textron Fastening Systems to change name

Textron Fastening Systems to change its name this fall to Acument Global Technologies, reflecting its new beginning and strategic direction as a free standing company.

Textron Fastening Systems (TFS) officially will adopt its new Acument* brand name (Acument Global Technologies) in the coming weeks, after completing its branding preparations and obtaining legal clearances, where necessary, in the 16 countries in which it operates around the world.

TFS was acquired by Platinum Equity from Textron Inc. on Aug. 11, 2006 and has begun the process of rebranding itself as Acument Global Technologies.

The new Acument Global Technologies logo incorporates a bold, stylized letter “a” in the color red that mimics the swirling path of a fastener being installed. It represents the company’s engineering heritage and will serve as its global icon. Adjacent is the name itself, presented in a clean, contemporary font. The combination creates a modern new look for the company that communicates strength and durability.

“Our new name and logo are clear, dynamic representations of a 21st Century industrial company with the technology resources to bring value-added design and assembly solutions to our global customers,” said Rick Clayton, president of Textron Fastening Systems. “We will leverage our new name as the foundation for revitalizing and strengthening our product brands and the values they represent. Doing this will help align our business closer to the needs and interests of our customers.”

Creating the new name and logo was a meticulous process that included in-depth research and interviews with customers, employees, and other constituents throughout the world, Clayton said.

“We required a strong new brand name and logo that could provide a memorable statement of our global presence, accurately convey the nature of our business, clearly differentiate us in the marketplace as a free standing global entity,” Clayton said. “The Acument Global Technologies name and logo satisfy all these criteria, and provide the flexibility to support our global brand architecture. We look forward to becoming Acument Global Technologies officially later this fall.”
