Change of management at Trelleborg Automotive

President of the Trelleborg Automotive business area, George Caplea, departs the group to accept an offer with a North American company.

George Caplea, President of the Trelleborg Automotive business area, will leave the Trelleborg Group on October 1 and assume a position as head of North American operations for another, noncompeting company.

Peter Nilsson, President and CEO of Trelleborg, will assume responsibility for the Trelleborg Automotive business area until further notice. At the same time, the business area will intensify its focus on improving all aspects of global processes.

Trelleborg Automotive is a world leader in the development and manufacture of polymer-based components and systems used for noise and vibration damping for passenger cars, light and heavy trucks, rail, marine and industrial applications.

The change of management will take place on October 1, 2006. Thereafter, for a limited period, George Caplea will be available in an advisory capacity.

“George has fantastic knowledge of and a broad network of contacts in the automotive industry,” says Peter Nilsson, President and CEO of Trelleborg. “However, his position has involved a large workload, with extensive global travel, and it is understandable that George has now chosen to focus on a role with less travel, which allows more time for his family.”

George Caplea has been Business Area President since 1998 and Executive Vice President of the Trelleborg Group since 2002.

Trelleborg Automotive comprises two business segments:

Antivibration Systems: Noise and vibration-damping solutions to all vehicle segments and industrial markets, pneumatic suspension systems and thermoplastic boots for driveshafts manufacturers.

Fluid & Acoustic Solutions: Engine-cooling, air-supply and acoustic-management systems for cars and trucks. The unit, which offers highly specalized materials expertise, also supplying brake shims, vibration damping materials and gas struts.

The head office is located in South Haven, Michigan, in the US.
Production units are located in Brazil, China, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, India, Italy, Mexico, Poland, Slovakia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, the UK and the US.
