Ceremony and Reception: The opening
ceremony was held at 10:00 am on November 20, 2002 at China International
Exhibition Center. Those who attended the ceremony were the following:
Mr. Lin Liyun, the committee member of CPPCC and Vice-Chairman of All-China
Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese; Mr. Ma Tinggui & Mr. Zhang
Enshu, the President and the Honored President of China Construction and
Decoration Association; Mr. Jin Dejun, Chef Engineer of China Construction
Ministry; Mr. Jia Qingwen, Chairman of China National Furniture Association;
Mr. Caoying, Vice-Chairman and General Secretary of China National Furniture
Association; Mr. Zhu Guangqian, Standing Vice-Chairman of China Wood Circulation
Association; Mr. Li Zhiren and Mr. Qi Yingjie, the Director and the Vice-director of
China Woodworking Machinery Quality Supervision and Inspection Center;
and Mr. Chen Peixin, Vice-Chairman of CIEC Group Corporation. In addition,
over 2000 persons attended the ceremony, including leaders from China
central ministries and committees, provincial furniture associations,
friends from embassies of foreign countries in China, exhibitor delegates
as well as trade visitors. Mr. Lin Liyun, Mr. Ma Tinggui, Mr. Jia Qingwen,
Mr. Chen Peixin, and Mr. Zhu Dingheng, the General Secretary of China
Federation of Industrial Economics, cut the ribbons. Mr. Zhou Weiming,
the Vice-Chairman of China National Furniture Association and Chairman
of Beijing Furniture Trade Association, delivered a speech. After that,
the delegates of regular exhibitors Mr. Zheng Xianchao and Mr. Mochizuki£¬the Managing
Director of Century Beijing Furniture Co., Ltd, and the Managing Manager
of Japan Marnak Group£¬delivered
speeches specifically. Later, Chengwaicheng Furniture Mall organized a
series of programs to celebrate the opening. The Opening
Reception was held in the Big Dinning Room of The Great Wall Sheraton
Hotel. About 850 guests were invited, including diplomatic envoys to China,
related leaders and exhibitor delegates. At the reception, Mr. Tangcheng,
the Honored Chairman of Beijing Furniture Trade Association and the Chairman
of China Construction Decoration Association Hardware Committee delivered
a speech. Together with the brilliant performance by China Oriental Song
and Dance Ensemble, China Furniture Design Award Activity was carried
out. Mr. Zhou Weiming, the Chairman of Beijing Furniture Trade Association
introduced the judge committee members and the awarding method. Mrs. Yu
Xiusu, the Vice-Chairman and the General Secretary of Beijing Furniture
Trade Association, announced the winner and the concerning leaders awarded
the cups and the certificates. Forums
& Symposia: In
order to promote the development of China furniture industry, to help
Chinese furniture enterprises adapt to the fierce competition after China¡¯s
entry to WTO, during the exhibition period, the organizer held several
forums on the development of furniture industry and symposia on related
specialized topics. Professor Lin Zuoxin, the doctor tutor of Beijing
Forestry University was invited to do the report Strategy of Opening
International Furniture Market. Mr. Chen Zengbi, the Chairman of Ming
Style Furniture Association, and Mr. Huang Weiguang, the Chef Marketing
Executive of CHINA RESOURCES LOGIC OFFICE
FURNITURE (ZHUHAI) LIMITED specifically
delivered the reports How the Mahogany Furniture Industry Adapt to
China¡¯s Entry to WTO and the Brand Development Strategy of Furniture
Enterprises. More than 200 enterprises managers and executives attended
the meetings. Simultaneously, purchase offices of central ministries and
Beijing Municipal Governments as well as 18 Beijing district governments,
and leaders from over 10 bidding companies were organized to meet with
managers from hundreds of furniture enterprises. All these activities
provided great opportunities for furniture enterprises and purchasers
to exchange ideas and make cooperation. Name

Promotion: The
Press Conference of Beijing International Furniture World & Woodworking
Machinery China 2002 was held on October 23, 2002. At the conference,
Mr. Dai Kexiang, the Vice-Chairman of CCPIT, Mr. Tangcheng, Chairman of
Hardware Committee of China Construction and Decoration Association, Mr.
Zhou Winming, President of Beijing Furniture Trade Association, and Mr.
Likai, Managing Director of CIEC Exhibition Co., Ltd briefly introduced
the fair to over 30 Beijing press media. The topics like ¡°Beijing
Building Material and Furniture Market¡± and ¡° Taking the Olympics
Opportunity to Promote the Development of Furniture Industry¡± were
also discussed. In addition, the promotion campaign was carried out at
more than 50 similar exhibitions in China. Over 100 overseas press media
(newspaper, magazines, TV stations, radios, and Internet) reported the
exhibition. What¡¯s more, the latest progresses were timely published
on the website. During the exhibition, more than 10 press media did specialized
reports on the fair. Prize
Awarding: During
the exhibition, Chinese noted furniture designers and experts in the field
were invited as the judge committee members. Through discussion, the committee
worked out the special prize, golden prize, silver prize, bronze prize
and excellent prize in the following specific aspects: civil furniture,
mahogany furniture, and office furniture as well as booth design. These
activities not only aimed to provide excellent furniture designers with
opportunities to show their brilliant talents and to exchange and learn
from each other, but also aimed to enlighten the new products development
of furniture enterprises and so to promote the overall development of
China furniture industry and to lead more enterprises to international
market. Questionnaires
on Exhibitors: After
the exhibition, nearly all the exhibitors had answered the questionnaires
designed by the organizer. Through analysis, the following conclusions
were reached. With
the great support of exhibitors and professionals in the fields, after
the efforts of the organizer, the 5th Beijing International
Furniture World & Woodworking Machinery China was rounded off. Beijing
International Furniture Fair will further play its role of Olympics furniture
supplier to strengthen the central position of Beijing market in the whole
country. The organizer will devote to develop the exhibition as China
furniture trade center, design and development center, manufacturing and
selling center as well as the industry information center, and so to promote
